Module prices started increasing in mid-2020 because of a supply disruption caused by floods in China’s southeast province. And an explosion took place at GCL Poly, which also hit supplies. Then, prices stabilized after a while, but they started increasing in the last quarter of 2020. This is because of the bottleneck in effective glass-processing capacity.
As a solar PV modules manufacturer, Eco Green Energy has always been trying its best to maintain the price as much as we could. Then, with the arrival of solar panels’ peak export season, the price trend has been concerned the top key point of the whole solar industry. We, at Eco Green Energy, are all wondering whether the price of solar PV modules will keep increasing. Here, we list several points to show the current situations we are facing.
Polysilicon price continues to rise
The polysilicon market continued to amplify, with a continuous increase in the overall polysilicon prices, an apparent upward adjustment in overseas quotations. As the Chinese New Year holiday drew to an end, there have been more order requests in quotations. Although most polysilicon businesses are still executing their orders, which resulted in no remaining spots for sales. The fewer quantity of new orders in the market has induced a rising trend in the spot prices of small product batches.

Wafer price remains high
Wafer quotations continued to rise, with a comprehensive upward adjustment in the prices of large-sized mono-Si wafers. The prices of polysilicon are temporarily maintained at a high level. On the other hand, the inventory of traders has allowed the market to continuously escalate the spot prices. With no loosening in polysilicon prices, wafer prices are going to increase constantly.

PV Glass price is stable but unpredictable
The quotations continued to be stable in the glass market, though the tight supply status has yet to be mitigated. Module makers continue to exhibit a stronger demand for photovoltaic glass. An observation of the current status of the market of cell modules indicates that the cost is continuously elevated.

In short, overseas demand is being released constantly, and partial domestic tender projects continue to postpone in delivery. Whereas the prices of auxiliary materials such as silver paste and film remain at a high level from the impact of the earthquake in Japan. Thus, the cost of raw materials may continue to rise.
Besides raw materials, freight rates, too, have shot up 5-8 times due to a shortage of shipping containers. Please read our latest article Freight-Cost will keep Intensifying for detailed information.
Finally, for Eco Green Energy, we have no choice but to increase the price of PV modules, due to the price rising of raw materials and sea freight costs. Because we only choose Grade A cells and top-qualified raw materials for our solar products.
