Eco Green Energy is entirely excited to welcome a new distributor in Tunisia joined to the EGE Global Partners team – MES Distribution.
MES Distribution is a leading company in the sector of renewable and efficient energy specialized in the photovoltaic field: development, study, installation, and distribution.
In addition, the company appeared in 2009 with a desire to meet the expectations of customers in the renewable energy field. Currently, MES Distribution has eight offices around Tunisia and is also in charge of distributing solar solutions to Italy and Malta. They also have a broad product range from PV modules to inverters and solar structures. Some of them have been applied for several solar projects of 10MW.
We are delighted to start a profitable collaborative journey in the African market and strengthen this partnership with numerous successful solar projects together.
Solar Energy Trends in Tunisia
Tunisia is an energy-dependent country with limited oil and gas reserves. However, those fuels consist of 97% production of the total energy, while renewables contribute merely 3%.

In fact, Tunisia has good renewable energy potential, especially solar and wind, which the government is trying to tap to ensure a safe energy future.
The country has excellent solar radiation potential, which ranges from 1800 kWh/m² per year in the North to 2600 kWh/m² per year in the South. To overcome the energy dependence problem and prevent climate change, the country launched the Tunisian Solar Plan in 2009. There was also jointly agreed to achieve 3.8 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

While in 2020, the country only reached 95MW, the government has launched tenders for 1.1GW of solar capacity so far. Currently, the Tunisian government is modifying a national strategy for solar power generation by 2030.

National favorable programs in renewable energy
Furthermore, Tunisia provides citizens with favorable programs in renewable energy. PROSOL – is a joint initiative of UNEP, the Tunisian National Agency for Energy Conservation, and state-utility STEG. In addition, the main goal is to promote the development of the solar energy sector through financial and fiscal support. It also includes a loan mechanism for domestic customers to purchase Solar Water Heaters and a capital cost subsidy provided by the Tunisian government of 20% of system costs.
