We have prepared a PV industry price report for you to get up-to-date information about the trends in April 2023.
PV Industry Supply-Chain Price Trends (April 2023)
Polysilicon
Polysilicon has kept decreasing this week, reaching RMB 194-200/kg, a week-on-week decrease of 2.5%. This price evolution has two main reasons. The first one is the increase of demand for n-type modules that have impacted the demand for p-type silicon materials. The second reason is the growth of available production capacity for polysilicon.

Wafer
Wafer production is expected to increase by 11%-13% in April compared to March.
Both M10-182mm and M12-210mm wafers have seen their prices decrease but at a lower rate than polysilicon. This is due to the supply issue of quartz sand used in wafers. The 210mm market competitiveness of 210mm is improving but still can’t compete with 182mm ones.
Wafer producers are piling up stocks as the production of upstream materials is bigger than the current downstream demand.

Cell
Both 182mm and 210mm cell prices haven’t changed this week.
Production capacity is still stronger for 182mm cells than for 210mm cells. But many manufacturers are changing their production lines to 210mm. This shift takes some time so the current supply for 210mm cells is still lower than the demand, which explains why the prices are still high.

Module
The price range of PV modules is widening between top suppliers who receive an increased number of orders and other suppliers who keep decreasing their prices to grab more market share.
Following the trend of upstream materials, PV module prices are expected to fall in the coming months.

Freight Cost Trends (April 2023)
Freight prices are at their lowest and are close to the pre-covid rates. The price decline has been continuous for one year. While the average value was at $9,488 in March 2022, on March 23 it decreased to $1,492.
