Solar Market in China

31GW of new solar capacity has been installed in the first 6 months of 2022 in China. The solar capacity of the country is now 340GW. The pipeline of installations is very large until the end of the decade.

The Chinese government projects the installation of 1,200GW of solar and wind energy capacity by 2030. Solar is the cornerstone of the decarbonization plans of China. It will help peak CO2 emissions before 2030 and achieve net zero by 2060.

Solar residential installation segment in China

In the last three years, China has become the largest residential market worldwide. Feed-in tariff incentives have been put in place by the Chinese government to help residential consumers get access to solar energy. It is also easier to get connected to the grid.

China’s residential segment has some unique characteristics. For example, the average size of residential installations is higher than in other parts of the world. It increased from 10kw in 2018 to 21kw in 2020. Higher sizes of installations enable the consumers to get standalone subsidies and optimize rooftop space.

Eco Green Energy modules for solar residential installation in China

We have received pictures of a new solar residential installation done in China with 52 pieces of EGE Helios Plus 375w. The total power output of the installation is 19.5kw.

A zero-angle rooftop installation in Nantong with a 19.5kw total capacity can produce at least 23,908kwh per year (source: PVGIS). This production can help the consumer save money on electricity bills.
