The sunny climate in Pakistan makes this country be an excellent place for solar power development. In addition, the country possesses abundant solar irradiance, as it receives solar energy almost throughout the year. It gives a great chance to use sunlight as the dominant way to produce clean energy. Unfortunately, its key energy production still depends on dirty fossil fuels.

According to the latest news, at the beginning of 2022, the government implemented a 17% tax for PV modules. It means that the price will increase for their import by 30%. The local authority explained such actions as preventive measures for saving national capital. 

Despite this, the country actively implements new PV projects around the country, moving closer to a target of producing 60% of clean energy by 2030.
