Chinese New Year holidays are not only a good time for rest, but also to plan in advance. In December, before the holidays, the solar market observed a price decrease. The contrary situation is now – with a new year – a new price increase for PV modules. In addition, the price changing of raw materials had affected the entire PV supply chain.
Eco Green Energy, the French Brand solar PV module manufacturer, prepared a short price reference about what to expect next.
Raw materials price increase
Polysilicon
According to Energy Trend, after the Chinese New Year, the polysilicon price has continued to rise. The overall mono polysilicon quotations sit at roughly RMB 240/kg. As a major part of polysilicon orders for this month have been signed-in advance, not enough material is available now on the market. Such sporadic orders caused the price growth for polysilicon this week.

Wafers
Wafer cost has also slightly risen this week. Foremost wafers manufacturers successively increased the price for their products during the last week before Chinese New Year. The high demand in the first quarter of 2022 has provided continuous downstream shipment in modules and cells and managed to rise up wafer demand. Anyway, a fine line between market supply and demand under limited polysilicon supply during February may cause another increment in wafer prices in the same month.

Cells
The price increase can be seen in cells quotations as well. Currently, costs for M6, M10, and G12 are 1.12 RMB/W, 1.13 RMB/W, and 1.13 RMB/W.
It is worth mentioning, the price for these materials has slightly grown since the last week. Considering the constant inflation and high demand for polysilicon and wafers, cell prices may continue to increase during the first quarter of 2022.

Modules price increase
Taking to attention that prices for raw materials have continuously risen, it is predicted to execute small and sturdy price increments during February.

Freight costs
There is good news about the freight costs. During Chinese New Year, many manufacturers didn’t start their production till the middle of this month. It caused a slight diminishing in price to European, African, and Asian directions. Even though the current situation is stable, it is expected cost increase in the begging of March.

To sum up, Eco Green Energy suggests considering all the facts of the price increase and placing the orders till the end of February. Despite the price increase for raw material of PV modules, the freight cost is stable. We offer not to hesitate and place the orders before the end of February to avoid more losses.
Please note that Eco Green Energy will provide prices based on the current situation. We will not cancel or postpone the shipment.
